Story
The film focuses on Prafulla, a woman from a small village in British-ruled West Bengal. The treatment she receives from society and her in-laws is depicted in the film. The movie chronicles her journey to become the bandit queen Devi Chowdhurani when she is abducted by Bhavani Pathak. One of the main plot points is Prafulla’s escape after her father-in-law sells her to the British.
